Bradley Baird Wins Irish Nats
Congratulations to Bradley Baird who wins Irish Nats

Bradley Baird took his JQ powered THE Car to win the overall 2012 Irish national championship. After three consistant podium finishes Bradley wrapped up the title with a fourth in the final round which was enough to clinch the title.
Round one was held in the all dirt facility of BADMCC. In qualifing it was the Agama driver Barkley Abernathy who took the pole postion with Bradley in second and in the final it was nothing but close racing from the word go between Abernathy and Baird until Bradley blown a glow plug shortly after the second pitstop. Baird made it to the pits and a quick change got him back out in third which he held until the end of the race.
Round two was again held at BADMCC. This time Bradley took the upper hand with his JQ The car and took three rounds of qualifing out of four to put him first on the grid for the main final. In the final from the start of the buzzer Bradley pushed and led every lap of the final winning by thirty seconds over his closest challenger. Barkley Abernathy came in second driving Agama, and the kyosho driver of Gary Baird.
Round three taken place down south on the all astro turf venue hosted by the NNN (Navan nitro nuts), Qualifing was taken by the agama driver Barkely Abernathy. Bradley had a lot of bad luck and lined up pole in the B final. Bradley went on to win the B final with ease and lined up ninth place in the main. In the main Bradley got caught up in a first corner incident that cost him nearly a quarter of a lap to the leader. Through the duration of the final Bradley powered his JQ through the field to recover to second. Gary Baird took the win driving the kyosho car and Bradley in second and Christopher Mccauley driving Agama.
Round four and the penultimate round of the championship three people could take the tittle Bradley Baird JQ, Gary Baird Kyosho, Barkley Abernathy Agama. In qualifing it was Alan Scroggie who took pole with Bradley lining up third on the grid. In the final Alan scoggie went on to take the win driving his Agama car Bradley suffered a flame out mid race which costed him second place but he manged a fourth and this was enough to take the overall.
Overall standings
Bradley Baird JQ/JQ - 297 points
Gary Baird Kyosho/Bullitt - 297 points
Christopher McCauley Agama/Bullitt 293 points

NEW Alu Rear Hubs
JQ has recently released these new CNC Aluminum Rear Hubs. They come in gold or black, and they are stronger and more turnable . The upper link holes are one hole row higher than on the plastic hub, so the 2nd highest row is the same as the plastic hub top row. The new top row makes THE Car smoother in corners, it seems to keep a more consistent around corners. Also, the hub requires 4 plastic spacers to fit in the arm, with 2 in front, and 2 behind bring the stock position. This means it can be moved 2mm further forwards for even more rear traction, or backwards for high traction tracks.

Dirt Masters Charity Fund Flying High!

We are delighted to announce that the GB Modelsport/CMCC 2011 Dirt Masters has so far raised over £900 for the Warwickshire Air Ambulance! We make no apologies for saying a big THANK YOU once again to everyone that contributed to this worthy cause!
This has also led to another landmark achievement being reached today, which is that Coventry Model Car Club has now raised over £10,000.00 in the last 5 years for charity! Well done to everyone at CMCC and thanks again to Mark, Alex and Andy for making it all happen last weekend!
DLD Racing at the Dirt Masters

JQ driver Steve Price was one of several drivers trying DLD Racing tyres at the Dirt Masters for the first time. For the first round of qualifying he fitted a new set of Hat Trick 2 tyres in the new XXS compound. These were mounted on EZ Power wheels with DLD BB Pink inserts.
Steve obviously liked the tyres as he kept the same set on the car for the entire meeting! That's 7 x 7 minute rounds of qualifying plus a 20 minute final! Excluding warm up and run down laps, that was getting on for about 90 laps of the abrasive CMCC dirt track! Check out the photo above to see what they were like when we finally got Steve to take them off the car! An amazing performance, and great value for money too. All our DLD tyre sets are about £20 less expensive than most other competitive brands.
Dirt Masters Rallycross Scratch Race

Saturday evening at the Dirt Masters featured an unusual invitational scratch race. 12 drivers (every 3rd qualifier) were invited to compete in a 10 minute scratch race. Starting from the pit lane, the slowest qualifier was released first, and the start times for the remaining cars were calculated from their individual FTD results, adjusted for the 10 minute race duration. So by the time the last car was released, he was already over a lap down on the leader.
The theory is that all cars cross the finish line together, but as in full scale motorsport where the handicap process is more commonly used, it rarely happens. All Rallycross buggies were included so a few electric buggies were thrown into the mix with all the smokers.
Just a bit of fun really, but with cash prizes up for grabs this added a little spice to the otherwise light hearted race.
In the end we had three privateers on the podium, with Andrew Peck (Caster/HobbyWing) taking the win, Neal Francis (TLR/RB) in 2nd and Dez Chand (AE/Novak) in 3rd.
Electric Rallycross at THE Dirt Masters

Dez Chand took his Novak/Reedy powered Associated buggy to FTD, and then won both legs of the A Main, lapping the field both times in the process!
Dez started his early qualifying runs using a well known tyre brand before switching to DLD Racing covers in the new XXS compound. First up was the DLD Hole Shot followed by the new XXS Enduro tyre. Dez opted to run the (same set) of Enduros for the bulk of qualifying and both legs of the A Final!
DLD Racing tyres are already renowned for representing superb value for money and delivering fantastic mileage. The Enduro is no exception, even on the abrasive dirt of the CMCC track, and in the new extra super-soft compound. Dez ran the Enduro tyres fitted on EZ Power wheels with DLD Racing PL (Pink) moulded inserts.
A number of drivers in the nitro class were also running DLD Racing tyres for the first time, and we shall be updating the news page with their stories and feedback in the near future.
In It To Win It!

Scott Francis looks rather pleased to have bagged himself THE Car in the Dirt Masters raffle! This was all about supporting the Warwickshire Air Ambulance (which buzzed the rostrum several times during the meeting), and we would like to thank everyone who contributed so generously to this worthwhile cause.
JQ at THE Dirt Masters

It was great to see James le Parvoux making the long journey to the Dirt Masters from his home in Guernsey. Once again the privateer driver put in a stirling performance driving what is a box standard and original JQ buggy. The last outing this car had on the mainland it took an A Final win in the opening round of the 8th-11 Series.
All the same, James did a great job qualifying straight into the A Main and going on to finish 5th overall and top privateer!

Scott Bass was top JQ driver, qualifying 8th overall with his Picco powered JQ. After chasing down the leading three cars for for the first two-thirds of the race he was sidelined for several laps in the pit lane after the engine moved and he lost drive. After nearly 7 minutes in the pits he got out again and went on to finish 10th.
Congratulations also to Ben Doyle (12th) who also qualified straight into the A Final and was running a strong 6th overall until he was sidelined. Dennis Holding (14th) was yet another JQ runner in the A, having bumped up after winning an eventful B Final.
2011 GB Modelsport Midlands Dirt Masters

Congratulations to Graham 'Sloppy' Alsop on his FTD qualifying performance and then going on to win the 45 minute Dirt Masters A Main in dominating form. The Hot Bodies/RB/Competition Heat driver put in a storming performance during the two-day event, being the class of the field throughout 7 rounds of (7 minute) qualifying runs, followed by the 45 minute A Main on Coventry Model Car Club's fantastic dirt track.

DLD Racing

We shall be making a limited number of DLD Racing tyre sets available FREE to non-supported drivers at the forthcoming Midlands Dirt Masters event at Coventry (9th-10th July), including several patterns in the latest XXS (extra super-soft) compound!
To date, the XXS compound has only been available to, and tested by, our team drivers. However we now think the latest covers from DLD Racing will win many new friends!
We have a range of tyres available in up to 4 different compounds, all of which have demonstrated an exceptional combination of grip and wear rates. Two 'neon pink' moulded inserts are available. The BB profiled insert is designed specifically for bumpy tracks, whilst the PL insert creates a flatter tyre footprint, ideal for smooth tracks and also with extra soft tyre compounds.
At a time where tyre costs are escalating, the good news with DLD Racing tyres is that our prices range from just £18.58 for a set of 4 tyres, to £33.41 for a full set with inserts and 4 EZ Power wheels!
Alsop Warms to Competition Heat

Hot Bodies team driver Graham Alsop continues to enjoy the benefits of pre-heating his RB engines, endorsing the Competition Heat engine heater.
Graham has been using the CH12V heater every week throughout the 2010-2011 winter and spring season, and is seen here at the recent BRCA National at Wakefield, sporting the latest "Deuce" heater before going on to make yet another podium finish.
The new Deuce heater features a number of upgrades over the original 12V heater, including a slightly enlarged Kevlar heating element, new Deutsch rebuildable power lead socket and improved embroidery.
The new heating element is designed to work with a fully charged 3S LiPo, whilst the rebuildable power lead socket enables DIY replacement of the outer jacket to keep the heater looking like new. Each Deuce heater also includes a new illustrated Owner's Manual which is full of information explaining how to get the best out of pre-heating and breaking-in .19 to .28 engines.
A Final Podium for Holding

Congratulations to Dennis Holding driving his Team GBMS JQ for qualifying 5th overall at yesterday's Stoke Nitro event, and then going on to finish a very strong 2nd overall in the 25 minute A Final.
Dennis made some minor set up changes to adapt to the high grip Stoke Astroturf track, and a copy of his set up sheet will be posted in the Download section shortly.
