Power Save Racing 3V² Competition Clutch

If your buggy or truggy clutch has been set up correctly, to suit both your own driving style and the prevailing track conditions, then you will have a performance advantage over many of your rivals! This is because the clutch is an often overlooked element of the total race package, and it’s a fact that many racers do little more than replace bearings, springs and shoes only when they fail or get to the end of their life.

A correctly set up clutch will deliver power from the engine as the most appropriate time, making power delivery smoother, whilst reducing wheel spin, tyre wear and fuel consumption. Perhaps most important of all, by making the car easier to drive in this way, your lap times should be not only more consistent, but a lot faster than you would otherwise achieve without the best set up.

A World of Choice

With the 3V² competition clutch the spring tension can be adjusted depending upon which of our 2 clutch assemblies you are using. The first clutch features 3 settings, marked A-B-C, whilst the second is marked D-E-F, where ‘A’ is the lightest spring setting, and ‘F’ is the hardest. This also means that with the 3V² clutch you do not need to buy and swap clutch springs, and whilst most manufacturers give you a choice of 3 spring settings/strengths, the 3V² gives you 6! What’s more, adjusting the spring tension is easily and quickly achieved using the special clutch tool, part number P-01807.

The two clutch assemblies are available to suit 32mm and 35mm clutch sizes.

All the clutch components are interchangeable and can be bought individually, but to make things easy, we stock all pre-assembled versions in both sizes, with a choice of aluminium shoes, carbon shoes, or mixed aluminium/carbon.

Choosing your 3V² Clutch

The very reason why the 3V² clutch is so adjustable is because there are so many factors that dictate which set up is best to use, on any given surface. Apart from the track conditions and your driving style, other issues affecting clutch set up include the power delivery characteristics of your engine, diff oil set up and even the weight of your buggy or truggy.

Here are a few examples to help illustrate which type to choose as a good starting point.

1) Dirt Track

Use ABC clutch on A, B or C setting with all carbon shoe in low grip conditions, mixed shoes in medium grip or all aluminium shoes in blue grove conditions.

2) Astroturf
Use ABC clutch on C setting with mixed or all aluminium shoes, or DEF clutch on D or E setting with carbon, mixed or aluminium shoes, depending upon grip level.

3) Grass
Similar set up to Astroturf depending upon overall grip levels. For high grip grass tracks try the DEF clutch with mixed or aluminium shoes.

Competition Heat 12V Engine Heater
(CH12V)

The Concept
It’s a misconception that you only need to pre-heat your race engine in cold weather. As with any full scale engine, more wear occurs during a cold start and warm up than at any other time. Modern nitro race engines are virtually seized when cold, no matter how warm the ambient temperature may be! In fact, probably 30 to 40% of a race engine’s life will be spent trying to get it up to its optimum temperature before it can be correctly tuned or venture out on the track.

If you break-in your engine using a Competition Heat engine heater, and continue to use the product for all engine pre-starts, this will not only increase your engine’s performance and economy, but you could extend its life by as much as 100%! Breaking in a new engine is a critical time in the engine’s life, and with the Competition Heat engine heater, you can leave it on the engine whilst it is running, to help keep the temperature up. What’s more, you will also find the engine is easier to start and tune, and by cutting down running times by as much as 40% there is the added bonus of saving on unnecessarily wasted and expensive fuel costs!

With the well proven Competition Heat engine heater, you are assured of all these benefits, and more, because, whilst the best may cost you a little more initially, it WILL quickly pay for itself.

The History
The Competition Heat RC race engine heater has been developed over a period of time after the Company’s founder had owned and operated his own race team, working in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. (The roots are still there to this day, but that’s another story!) Using technologies and materials embraced by the aerospace and F1 industries, and when used correctly the product has been successfully proven to deliver all the performance enhancements and economies claimed by the manufacturer. The first engine heater was manufactured in 2004 and was an extremely efficient 50 Watt, 110V AC heater that would consistently pre-heat .21 race engines up to 80-90° C in just a few minutes, the Company set about developing a 12V version in early 2010, and at last, the wait is over!

The Product
CH12V is the part code for the latest 12V engine heater. One size fits all .21, .23, .25 and .28 size RC race engines. The specially designed, Kevlar backed insulated jacket has been optimised especially for the 12V heater. This new heat resistant and flameproof cover is adjustable, and has been finished with the new ‘Competition Heat’ embroidered logo. It is resistant to attack from most chemicals and also resists moisture absorption. Another feature of the heater is that the top port can be closed to improve heat retention during warm-up, or flipped open to facilitate a glow starter being used, or to check engine temperature, without having to remove the heater from the engine. In use, the heater draws approximately 4 Amps, allowing the CH12V to be powered using a starter box’s own battery supply, or ideally from a dedicated 11.1V 3S LiPo, 12V gel cell or leisure battery. We have all of these solutions available from stock. Please ask your local model shop for details and prices. A quick release 90cm power cable is terminated with a Deans Ultra connector for easy and secure battery connection.

Power Save Racing Air Filters

A Breath of Fresh Air for your Engine

The secret to maintaining your engine’s high performance and long life can be attributed in no small way to ensuring that it breaths a clean and consistent air/fuel mixture. This can only be achieved by using high performance air filter elements and lubricants that have been designed and manufactured individually to suit your own particular model.
Few manufacturers can claim to do this, which is why GB Modelsport is proud to be the exclusive Distributor of PSR high performance air filters and lubricants throughout the UK and ROI. When you install PSR air filter elements you are assured that they have been individually engineered to fit your model’s housing precisely. This ensures that they perform their purpose to maximum effect, allowing your engine to breath without ingesting dirt and other material which can shorten the engine’s life or have a detrimental effect on performance.

The special white filter material enables quick and easy monitoring of filter pollution build up, whilst the magenta filter oil makes it easy to judge when the correct level of saturation has been reached prior to installation.
PSR are adding to the range all the time, so if you cannot find your model listed here, please call or email us. Please also use the product search facility on this web site for information and images of specific filter elements.
